Windows System File Repair

In order to verify your Windows installation and repair any corrupt Windows files, follow these steps.
These steps are valid for Windows 8, Windows 10, and Windows 11.

1. DISM Repair (Deployment Image Servicing and Management)

Start an Administrator Level Command Prompt, then run each of these three commands one after the other, waiting until they complete:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

You should restart Windows after running these three commands.
If you get any errors listed as a result of these commands then you will have to use Google Search to locate the fix for the error, it might mean a Windows re-install.

After all of those commands are processed, if no errors occurred, then use the System File Checker on the same Administrator Level Command Prompt.

2. System File Checker

Start an Administrator Level Command Prompt, then run this command, waiting until it completes:

sfc /scannow

If SFC found and repaired corrupt files, reboot and re-run SFC over again and repeat SFC until there are no more corrupt files found.
If SFC found corrupt files and can’t repair them, then your Windows may have to be reinstalled.

3. dotNet Repair Tool

Download from the Microsoft website the dotNet Framework Repair Tool.  The dotNet Repair Tool is located on Microsoft’s web site at the following address:

Run the file that is downloaded and follow the on-screen prompts.
Reboot the computer after performing the repair.
